Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Mcconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William McNee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gerry Mcconnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, William McNee!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McNee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mcconnell's half guard.
Mcconnell works his way to full guard. Good work.

Mcconnell has his foot on McNee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McNee works his way back into a safe position though.

Mcconnell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McNee defends it easily.

McNee gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcconnell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Mcconnell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

McNee has a hand on Mcconnell's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mcconnell takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Mcconnell could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
McNee really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
McNee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcconnell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mcconnell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McNee explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Mcconnell is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. McNee can't fight it off and eventually Mcconnell manages to take the fight to the floor. McNee looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

McNee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McNee tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcconnell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McNee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mcconnell kicks McNee off and gets back to his feet.

Mcconnell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McNee, pushing him back against the cage.

McNee breaks the clinch.
Mcconnell shoots for a takedown but McNee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McNee tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

McNee seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

McNee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mcconnell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McNee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McNee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcconnell was covering up waiting for the punch and McNee finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mcconnell is doing well to control the position and prevent McNee from advancing to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gerry Mcconnell will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



McNee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mcconnell's guard.
McNee is fighting to break Mcconnell's control of his arms but Mcconnell is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Mcconnell is trying to keep McNee in close.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McNee is in close to Mcconnell's body, working some short punches and elbows.

McNee stands up and waves to Mcconnell to follow him.
Mcconnell tries to score a power double leg takedown but McNee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mcconnell somewhat.
McNee scores with the left hand. Mcconnell knows he should have avoided that one.
McNee fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mcconnell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

McNee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcconnell was covering up waiting for the punch and McNee finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mcconnell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mcconnell wants to hit a switch here but McNee passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mcconnell there!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gerry Mcconnell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mcconnell tries to lock up and control but McNee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

William McNee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mcconnell has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
