Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renato Townsend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Renato Townsend! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mickey Edwards! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edwards shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Townsend napping and manages to drive through into side control! Townsend bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Edwards gets a clinch. Townsend avoiding damage as Edwards throws knees to the body.
Edwards turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Edwards laying and praying for a moment but Townsend takes advantage and regains half guard. Edwards is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Townsend defends it well. Townsend is not content to let Edwards control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Townsend looking for submissions off his back. Well, if Edwards is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Townsend pushes Edwards off looking to stand but Edwards dives back in and keeps control.
Edwards is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Townsend doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Edwards. Townsend looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Edwards prevents Townsend from standing back up.
Edwards is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Townsend has managed to free his arm - good work. Edwards stops Townsend from getting back to his feet.
Townsend is staying active underneath Edwards, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards trying to control the pace. It looks like Edwards might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Edwards manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Townsend on his heels. He'll look to pass Townsend's guard now, I'm sure. Edwards stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Townsend swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Edwards's corner is telling him to maintain position. Townsend is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Edwards is controlling him. Edwards is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Townsend isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Edwards stacks Townsend on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Edwards! Edwards controlling the position from side mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mickey Edwards dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Edwards dives in and scores a takedown into Townsend's guard. Edwards has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Edwards prevents Townsend from getting back to his feet. Edwards trying to control but Townsend is working from the bottom. Edwards sitting in guard, not really doing much. Townsend wants to get back to his feet but Edwards is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Townsend trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Edwards looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edwards with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Townsend is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Edwards looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Townsend wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Edwards manages to pass to side control.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Edwards. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Edwards slows the pace down in half guard. Edwards wants to work for an arm triangle but Townsend is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Townsend misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Edwards wants to lay and pray for a moment but Townsend keeps working. Edwards controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards wants to take a breather but Townsend is having none of it. Edwards is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Townsend is just riding it out for now. Edwards eventually gives up the hold. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Edwards in particular looking to stall. Edwards stops Townsend from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Edwards trying to control from half guard but Townsend is working away. Edwards trying to control the pace. Townsend is trying to stand.
Edwards is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Townsend doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Edwards. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Edwards controlling the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mickey Edwards showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Edwards feints and as Townsend raises his hands in defense, Edwards changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Townsend keeping moving, preventing Edwards from controlling successfully. Edwards stops Townsend from standing up. Townsend controls Edwards momentarily but Edwards frees himself. Edwards slips nicely into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Edwards is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edwards perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Townsend pushes Edwards off looking to stand but Edwards dives back in and keeps control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Townsend paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Townsend could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Edwards closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Edwards trying to control the position but Townsend is working away. Townsend is letting Edwards control him for a moment. Edwards is looking to take a break and control but Townsend is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee asks Edwards politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Edwards prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Townsend, who protects the arm well. Townsend tries to escape but Edwards is in control. Edwards has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Townsend is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Edwards yanks on the arm and Townsend is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Edwards.
