Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Brown!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown looks to land a combination. Cathaway sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Brown fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Brown feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Cathaway's calf.

Cathaway moves into the clinch successfully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Eric Brown has been cut.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cathaway seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cathaway. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cathaway has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Cathaway buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cathaway cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Cathaway jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Brown is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Brown and Cathaway has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cathaway is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brown is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Eric Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brown gets a takedown into half guard.

Brown closes the distance and clinches up with Cathaway, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes Cathaway against the cage but Cathaway circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Brown wants to control but Cathaway is keeping busy and won't allow it.
