Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jhon Bronks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sidney McMahon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McMahon has chosen Downeaster Alexa as his entrance music. Sidney McMahon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jhon Bronks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sidney McMahon!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McMahon clinches up against the cage.

McMahon jumps into guard, dragging Bronks to the mat.
Bronks tries to free his leg and advance position but McMahon is retaining full guard.
McMahon trying to control the position here.

Bronks thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bronks has gone for a leg lock! McMahon slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bronks's guard.

McMahon working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bronks is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McMahon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

It looks like McMahon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Bronks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McMahon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McMahon lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bronks being controlled here, momentarily.
McMahon is continuing to stall.
McMahon stands up over Bronks, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
McMahon sitting in guard here, content to control.
Bronks wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McMahon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McMahon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
McMahon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
McMahon working some strikes from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McMahon stays in close to Bronks's body and controls the position.
McMahon looking to pass the guard.
McMahon slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A nice combination there by McMahon.

McMahon clinches with his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McMahon misses with a shot to the kidneys.

McMahon jumps guard and drags Bronks to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bronks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McMahon misses with a double jab.
It looked like Bronks was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Danga de danga de dang - McMahon scores with a four punch combination!
Bronks uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McMahon.
McMahon throws a combination. Bronks tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

McMahon moves into the clinch successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McMahon jumps guard and drags Bronks to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bronks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bronks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bronks is pushing down on McMahon's leg trying to pass to half guard. McMahon is fighting to maintain full guard but Bronks has managed to sneak the leg through.
Bronks works his way into full mount!

Bronks working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

McMahon defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bronks.

Bronks moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, McMahon has worked his arm free - good work by McMahon!

Bronks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McMahon, who protects the arm well.
McMahon tries to improve position but can't.
McMahon can't do much from the bottom here.

Bronks tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
McMahon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McMahon is looking to reverse the position.

Bronks is trying to get an arm triangle but McMahon is defending well.
McMahon tries to bench press Bronks off him but Bronks keeps the position.

Bronks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McMahon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
McMahon prevents Bronks from improving position.

Bronks is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McMahon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bronks tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Bronks blocks the strikes from McMahon.

Bronks goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McMahon has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bronks but great work by McMahon.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McMahon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Bronks tries to buck McMahon off but McMahon is having none of it.
Bronks takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
McMahon just content to control the position.
McMahon tries to stand but Bronks is controlling his head.

McMahon wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bronks, who protects the arm well.
McMahon cracks Bronks with a big elbow.
Bronks is looking to reverse the position.
Bronks is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but McMahon is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McMahon looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sidney McMahon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Bronks's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Bronks tries to keep at a distance but McMahon has taken the fight into the clinch.

McMahon pulls guard successfully.

Bronks drops back, looking for a kneebar! McMahon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McMahon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McMahon!


McMahon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McMahon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

McMahon in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Bronks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McMahon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bronks stops McMahon from passing to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McMahon staying calm.
McMahon's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
More stalling from McMahon.
Bronks is looking to reverse the position.
Bronks seems a little lost for a moment, as McMahon dominates the positioning.
Bronks regains half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McMahon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Bronks has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for McMahon. Oh but Bronks has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! McMahon goes limp - he's gone! Bronks jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jhon Bronks!
