Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krystian Olafsson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tomas Schwarzwelder! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Olafsson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
It looks like Tomas Schwarzwelder has been cut. Olafsson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Olafsson misses the shot to the body. A nice side step and Schwarzwelder releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. A jab from Olafsson finds it's way through Schwarzwelder's defenses. Olafsson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Schwarzwelder. Olafsson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Olafsson cracks Schwarzwelder with a right hand to the side of the head. Olafsson misses with a series of wild punches.
Schwarzwelder appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Olafsson lunges at Schwarzwelder with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Schwarzwelder's hand. Schwarzwelder drops his hands momentarily and Olafsson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Olafsson looks to land a combination but Schwarzwelder avoids it well. Olafsson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Olafsson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Schwarzwelder! But no joy. Olafsson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Schwarzwelder has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Olafsson throws a looping overhand right but Schwarzwelder ducks down to avoid it. A big right from Olafsson misses. Nice uppercut lands for Olafsson. That snapped Schwarzwelder's head back.
Olafsson looks to score with a jab to the body but Schwarzwelder is just out of range. Olafsson throws a lazy right hand but Schwarzwelder sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Olafsson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Schwarzwelder. Krystian Olafsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Olafsson throws out a loose jab but Schwarzwelder uses good head movement to avoid it. Schwarzwelder looks like he wants to counter punch here. Olafsson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Schwarzwelder doesn't seem bothered though. Schwarzwelder looks winded! Olafsson jabs Schwarzwelder to the body, keeping him at a distance. Olafsson lands a glancing blow to the side of Schwarzwelder's head.
Schwarzwelder is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Olafsson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Schwarzwelder is still on wobbly legs! Can Olafsson finish him? We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Olafsson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Schwarzwelder manages to avoid it. Schwarzwelder swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Schwarzwelder seems to have recovered his senses. Olafsson fakes the body blow, causing Schwarzwelder to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Schwarzwelder goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Krystian Olafsson! Krystian Olafsson retains his heavyweight title! Tomas Schwarzwelder was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll be back'.
