0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Sanhez! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanhez moves in looking to clinch but Villegas pushes him off. Villegas swats away the attempt to clinch by Sanhez. Sanhez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Sanhez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Sanhez throws a series of punches but Villegas moves out of range. Sanhez tries to clinch up but Villegas circles away and keeps his distance. Villegas swats away the attempt to clinch by Sanhez. Sanhez is looking to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanhez tries to clinch but Villegas moves out of range. Villegas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Sanhez misses with the combination.

Jorge Sanhez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Villegas shoots in and drives through. Sanhez sprawls well. Villegas tries for a takedown but Sanhez circles away easily and Sanhez counters with a single leg into guard. Villegas didn't expect that. Villegas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sanhez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sanhez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Villegas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Villegas is looking to advance position but Sanhez won't allow it. Villegas is working for a submission of some sort.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sanhez tries to clinch but Villegas is having none of it. The fight stays on the outside here - Sanhez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Villegas gets the takedown into side control. Villegas looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Villegas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sanhez has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanhez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Villegas is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Sanhez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Villegas. Villegas looking for a guillotine from mount but Sanhez is having none of it. Villegas moves to the back position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanhez fending off the submission attempt from Villegas. This has been an exciting period of action! Sanhez manages to reverse the position and now he's in Villegas's guard. Nice work there by Sanhez.
Sanhez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Villegas has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sanhez doesn't defend quickly enough and Villegas has managed to lock this one up! Can Sanhez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Villegas on a fantastic submission victory.
