Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Woodrow Joyner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abe Eaton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abe Eaton!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Joyner drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Eaton has his foot on Joyner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joyner works his way back into a safe position though.
Joyner really is a fat lump.

Joyner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Eaton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Joyner's head backwards.
Joyner shoots in looking for a takedown but Eaton manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Joyner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Joyner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Abe Eaton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Eaton throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Eaton lands with an uppercut that bounces Joyner off the cage and back into range.
Eaton tries to land a front kick but Joyner steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Eaton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Eaton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Eaton might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Joyner haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
