Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyman Kissell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ching Ching (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ching Ching will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyman Kissell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ching Ching!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kissell darts in and clinches Ching up against the cage.
Ching tries a body shot but Kissell blocks it.
Ching doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Kissell misses with some punches.
Kissell swings wildly with an uppercut but Ching uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kissell lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ching backwards.
Kissell has Ching pushed against the cage.
Ching lands a left hand that snaps the head of Kissell backwards.
A frustrated look appears on Ching's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ching is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kissell is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ching to the mat. Ching regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Kissell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ching is just riding it out for now. Kissell eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Kissell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ching is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kissell is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kissell has escaped and now he's on top!

Kissell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ching can do to turn this around?
A nice inside leg kick there by Kissell. That's going to slow Ching down.
Ching clobbers Kissell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kissell.

and Kissell counters with a right hand to the body.
Ching swings for the body but Kissell moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ching fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kissell manages to avoid it.

Kissell will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Lyman Kissell is winning the standup battle so far.
Ching clobbers Kissell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Ching connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kissell's hands.
Kissell displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ching throws out the jab.
Kissell throws a low kick but Ching moves out of range easily.

and Ching counters with a series of strikes. Kissell will be more careful next time no doubt.

Kissell takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ching really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kissell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ching lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Kissell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Ching tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Kissell drops back looking for a leg! Ching is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ching manages to kick Kissell off! Kissell jumps back into Ching's guard.

Kissell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ching has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kissell is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ching.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lyman Kissell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ching takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Kissell remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ching bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Kissell is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ching rolls with it to try and escape but Kissell cranks on the arm and Ching is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lyman Kissell!
In his post fight interview, Lyman Kissell started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
