4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Berg Captain Hook! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Captain Hook throws a left and a right that both miss
and Down counters with a takedown into side control. Captain Hook tries to improve position but can't. Down gets to mount! Captain Hook was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Down stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Captain Hook fails to land with a series of punches.
Down appears to be looking for a counter takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Captain Hook misses with a double jab
so Down counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Down has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Down has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Captain Hook is proving hard to escape from.

and Down holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Captain Hook is fighting off a takedown attempt but Down is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Captain Hook to the mat. Our spies down at at Hard Knocks Training inform us that Captain Hook has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Down gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. A nice combination there by Captain Hook.
Captain Hook throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Captain Hook throws a combination that misses and Down holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Down is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Captain Hook can't fight it off and eventually Down manages to take the fight to the floor. Captain Hook looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Down wants to stand but Captain Hook is controlling his posture from full guard. Captain Hook wants to hit a switch here but Down passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Captain Hook there!

Captain Hook tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Down was well out of range. Poor timing from Captain Hook. Down is looking to counter the offense by Captain Hook and move into the clinch. Captain Hook throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Down counters by clinching up. Down has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Captain Hook clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Down stands up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Down seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

and Down holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Down here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Down can't get the takedown.
Captain Hook tries to score a body lock takedown but Down shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Down is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Captain Hook gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Down prevents Captain Hook from breaking the clinch. Down tries for a takedown. No joy.

Captain Hook is working an open guard so Down takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Berg Captain Hook is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

so Down counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Berg Captain Hook has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Captain Hook escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Down gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Down gets to his feet - Captain Hook follows without any prompting. Captain Hook misses with a combination
and Down counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Down. Captain Hook throws a knee to the head but misses.

Your Down is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Down gets to his feet. Captain Hook looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
