Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lennox Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Jones.
Karelin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Jones punishes Karelin's body with a nice straight punch.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Karelin pushes him off.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Jones.

Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones working the head and body with strikes.
Jones seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones decides to return to a standing position.

Jones drives through with a takedown into guard.
Karelin keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones slips nicely into half guard.

Jones is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Jones is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Karelin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones wants to pass to mount but Karelin is defending the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Karelin paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Karelin misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Jones wants to control but Karelin is keeping him busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karelin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Karelin regains half guard there - taking advantage of Jones's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones prevents Karelin from standing back up.
Karelin is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Karelin looks like he's trying to stand up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Karelin swivels and escapes.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Karelin's waist but Karelin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Karelin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Karelin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones scores with a leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
No joy there for Karelin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Karelin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Karelin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladimir Jones dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones trying to control the action but Karelin is working from the bottom.
Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Karelin is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Karelin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Karelin struggling to land strikes to the head as Jones covers up.
Karelin doesn't have the hooks in and Jones manages to turn into his guard.

Karelin is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jones rolls with it to try and escape but Karelin cranks on the arm and Jones is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lennox Karelin!
