Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Happy Face (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominic Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Face comes to the cage accompanied by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3L7-SxMzH4. Carter has chosen Face The Pain as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dominic Carter!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Face fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Face misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carter lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Carter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Face counters by moving into the clinch.
Face looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Carter trying to stall but Face improves his position.
Carter misses with a short punch on the inside.
Face tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Carter smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Happy Face. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Carter counters with a straight right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Dominic Carter has been cut.
Happy Face seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Face moves in looking to clinch but Carter pushes him off.
Carter keeps the fight on the outside.
As Face backs off Carter throws a huge counter combo but Face manages to avoid it all.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Carter has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Carter keeps the fight on the outside.
Carter changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Face on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Carter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Face was covering up waiting for the punch and Carter finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Face might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Face knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground.
Face is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Carter drops back looking for a leg! Face is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Face manages to kick Carter off! Carter jumps back into Face's guard.
Carter keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Face's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dominic Carter spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
Happy Face was interviewed post fight and said 'DOINNNNNNNNG'.
