The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rogers drops Ortega with a nice combination! Rogers dives into Ortega's guard, looking to finish!
It looks like Alexandro Ortega has been cut. Ortega trying to strike off his back.
Ortega is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Rogers content to stall in guard here. Ortega looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rogers is one step ahead there. Ortega has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ortega trying to strike off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ortega trying to keep a closed guard but Rogers is proving a slippery customer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Ortega shoots in looking for a takedown. Rogers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortega throws a solid leg kick but Rogers takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ortega. Rogers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Rogers seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Rogers seems to be working for a kimura but Ortega defends the submission attempt. Ortega trying to control here.

Rogers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Ortega is looking to reverse the position. Rogers lands some shots froms side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ortega is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rogers has just dragged him back down to the mat. Ortega tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Rogers tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ortega's legs. Rogers taking a breather here. Rogers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ortega on the ground. Ortega is breathing heavily. Rogers fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ortega throws a head kick but Rogers moves out of range.
Rogers wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Ortega takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Rogers stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Rogers!
Fedor Rogers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rogers feints and as Ortega raises his hands in defense, Rogers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rogers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rogers is working hard here to advance position. Rogers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rogers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortega trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Ortega thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Ortega is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ortega is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rogers is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rogers lands a right hook to the body.
Rogers connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ortega. Ortega circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Rogers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ortega gets back to half guard. Rogers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortega throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Ortega tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Rogers looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Ortega trying to control but Rogers postures up.
Ortega tries to get to full guard but Rogers has control of the leg. Ortega is looking to control Rogers's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ortega avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nice shot lands for Rogers. Rogers lands with a nice combination. Ortega backs away looking to recover. Ortega walks into a left hand. Ortega tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rogers scores with a hook. Rogers scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Rogers digs a good body shot into Ortega's ribs. Rogers goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Rogers connects with a body shot. Ortega takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Rogers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rogers sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ortega makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ortega. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ortega throws a combination that misses and Ortega takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Ortega tries a head kick but it misses.
Fedor Rogers is winning the standup battle so far. Rogers throws a left that rocks Ortega and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Rogers dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Ortega regain composure!
Ortega is rocked! Ortega is trying to improve his position. Ortega is still in real trouble! Can Rogers finish him? Ortega seems to have recovered his senses. Ortega throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Rogers has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Ortega has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rogers's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Rogers duly obliges. Rogers misses with a few strikes there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rogers is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Ortega is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rogers. Rogers scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Rogers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rogers showed some decent athleticism there. Ortega wants to control but Rogers is keeping busy and won't allow it. Ortega misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Rogers is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Ortega will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
