Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Phil Hsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Somerville (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hsu's entrance music is Lose Yourself. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hsu wants to clinch up but Somerville keeps it at a distance. Somerville shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Hsu looks like he's trying to stand up.
Somerville prevents Hsu from improving his position. Hsu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Somerville is working away from the top position though. Somerville wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hsu keeps working. Somerville is thwarting Hsu's attempts to control the position. Hsu works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Somerville slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Somerville postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hsu is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Somerville, into his guard. Hsu slips nicely into half guard. Somerville is staying active underneath Hsu, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Somerville is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hsu pulls his head out easily. Somerville tries to roll over but Hsu keeps him under control. Somerville looks gassed! Hsu seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nice strikes from Hsu there. Hsu is trying to control the action in half guard but Somerville is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hsu landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Somerville wants to control but Hsu is keeping busy.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A punch lands to the side of Somerville 's head but he takes it in his stride. Hsu with a lazy takedown attempt and Somerville counters with a nice double leg into guard. Hsu throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hsu manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hsu wants to control the pace but Somerville is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hsu looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Hsu wants to stand but Hsu is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Somerville is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hsu wants to control the pace but Somerville is squirming around nicely. Somerville defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hsu. Somerville is squirming around, avoiding Hsu's attempts to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Hsu connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hsu trying to control but he's not successful this time. Hsu mounts Somerville! Really nice guard pass there! Hsu can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Somerville is looking to escape. Hsu is standing up, even though he is in mount. Hsu looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Somerville! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phil Hsu dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hsu misses with a takedown attempt and Somerville counters with a nice double leg into guard. Somerville is stalling in the full guard. Somerville won't allow Hsu to sweep him here. Somerville trying to control the position from guard on top but Hsu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Somerville content to stall in guard here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Somerville trying to control but Hsu is working from the bottom. Somerville tries to free his leg and advance position but Hsu is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Somerville controls from within his opponent's guard. Somerville loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Somerville really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Somerville postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hsu closes the distance and clinches up with Somerville, looking for a takedown. Hsu pushes Somerville against the cage but Somerville circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Hsu misses with a series of wild punches.
Phil Hsu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Somerville has closed the distance and engaged Hsu in a clinch.
Somerville successfully pulls guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Somerville wants to sweep here but Hsu controlling him for the moment. Somerville has control of Hsu's left arm, preventing Hsu from doing any damage. Hsu gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Hsu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Hsu lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Somerville looks for a takedown but Hsu sprawls well. Hsu misses with a takedown and Somerville counters with a single leg into guard. Hsu didn't expect that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Hsu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hsu is looking for a triangle but Somerville pushes his legs off easily.

Hsu is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Somerville rolls with it to try and escape but Hsu cranks on the arm and Somerville is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
