Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manuel Berger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Austin! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Austin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Berger. Austin tries to counter with a clinch but Berger shakes him off and moves away. Berger misses with a takedown attempt - Austin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Berger avoids the head kick by Austin.
Austin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Austin lands in his opponent's guard. Austin is working Berger over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Austin distracts Berger with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Berger wants to stand but Austin is controlling the position. Austin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round. Austin scoring with punches to the head and body. Austin content to stall in guard here. Austin wants to stand but Berger has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Austin scoring with punches to the head and body. Austin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Austin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Berger is keeping the position for now. Austin wanted to stand there but Berger had control of the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Austin is stalling in the full guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Austin. Berger throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Berger tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Austin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Austin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Berger is trying to defend but Austin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Austin is taking a breather. Berger says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Austin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Austin wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Berger uses the opportunity to regain full guard. Austin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Austin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Austin throws a push kick but Berger slaps the foot to one side. A head kick misses from Austin. Berger throwing a counter right hand but Austin manages to avoid it. Austin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Austin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Berger trying to control from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Austin is pressing down on Berger's thigh, looking to free his foot. Berger is holding on for now. Austin tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Berger. Austin stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berger wants to get back to his feet. Well, if Austin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Austin has Berger up against the cage in a clinch.
Berger fails to pull guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Austin gets control of Berger's arms and successfully pulls guard. Austin will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Berger showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Austin isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Berger stacks Austin on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Berger! Austin has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Austin is looking to reverse the position. Austin sneaks back into half guard. Austin is controlling Berger's position as best he can from this difficult position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Austin is trying to get back to full guard. Austin keeping hold of Berger's head, controlling as best he can. Austin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Berger's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Berger's back! Berger really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Austin biding his time, looking for the opening.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Austin is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Austin goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Berger escapes and is now in half guard on top. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Austin can do anything to dispel that myth. Austin gets full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Austin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Austin feints and as Berger raises his hands in defense, Austin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Berger is looking to stand back up but Austin counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Berger. Austin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Berger is trying to control but can't.

Austin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Berger down.
Austin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Austin is trying to get an arm triangle but Berger is defending well. Austin controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Austin is continuing to stall. Austin has knee on belly and moves into mount. Austin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The adventures of Austin the control monster continue. Boring.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Austin. Austin controlling the position easily from mount. Berger's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Austin controlling his opponent. Austin raining down shots from the mount! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Austin landing strikes from the mount and Berger is in trouble! The referee warns Berger that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Berger is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Austin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Berger is surviving well by controlling Austin's body position as best he can. Oh Berger is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Austin is working for a guillotine from mount but Berger frees his head quite easily.
Berger seems to have got his legs back now. Austin looking to secure an arm triangle but Berger defends it well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Austin lands a big shot to the head and Berger winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
