PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hank Cricket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Recardo Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cricket might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Shake that ass. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hank Cricket! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Recardo Ortega! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortega shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cricket sprawls well. Cricket wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ortega gets slowly back to his feet. Ortega has Cricket up against the cage in a clinch.
Ortega breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cricket slaps away a takedown attempt from Ortega, before circling back to the center of the mat. Cricket tries to counter with a takedown but Ortega is quick to defend against it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ortega has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cricket uses from the top position. Cricket would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Cricket is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ortega is trying to control the position but Cricket postures up. Cricket is looking to stand up but Ortega won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cricket drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cricket jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Cricket wants to stand but Ortega is controlling his posture from full guard. Cricket stands and throws Ortega's legs to the side, diving into side control. Cricket is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ortega knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Cricket is working to tighten his grip on Ortega's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Ortega has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cricket is really squeezing tight and eventually Ortega passes out! Cricket breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Hank Cricket! Hank Cricket bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
