Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gert Johnnys (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ilmari Laine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnnys comes to the ring accompanied by Mountains of Might. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gert Johnnys! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ilmari Laine! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnnys throws a sloppy head kick and Laine moves out of range easily. Gert Johnnys seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnnys throws a half hearted mid kick. Laine shoots in and drives through. Johnnys sprawls well. Laine shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnnys but Johnnys pushes him off and we're back to square one. Laine is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Johnnys keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gert Johnnys has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ilmari Laine. Laine takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Laine sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Laine looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Johnnys lands a nice leg kick that just misses Laine's sensitive parts. Johnnys tries to close the distance and clinch but Laine swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Johnnys misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Johnnys is looking to slow Laine down with leg kicks. Laine comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Johnnys looks to land a body kick but Laine moved away. Laine lands a right hook to the body.
Johnnys tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Laine throws a hook to the side of Johnnys's head but Johnnys sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Laine is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Johnnys. Johnnys throws the kick towards the body but Laine avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laine shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnnys sprawls well. He's pushed Laine's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Johnnys gets caught flat footed, as Laine shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Laine trying to control but Johnnys is working from the bottom. Laine throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Johnnys pulls Laine in to control the position. Laine drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Laine jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Johnnys is trying to control the position but Laine postures up. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Johnnys throws a sloppy head kick and Laine moves out of range easily. Laine with a hook. Gert Johnnys is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Laine tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Johnnys was well out of range. Poor timing from Laine. Laine shoots in for a double leg but Johnnys sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Laine lands with a nice combination. Johnnys backs away looking to recover. Laine on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Laine looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnnys is fending him off so far but Laine persists. Nope, Johnnys circles away and we're back to standing. Johnnys pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Laine fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Laine scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Laine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnnys sprawls well initially but Laine persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Laine throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Laine trying to pass the guard but Johnnys defending well. Johnnys is pressing down on Laine's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Johnnys wants to sweep but no luck. Laine lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Laine postures up.
Laine throws a strike but Johnnys rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Johnnys throws a solid leg kick but Laine takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Johnnys. Johnnys lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Laine shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Johnnys is controlling Laine's position as best he can from this difficult position. Johnnys is looking for a sweep. Laine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Laine is working for a kimura here but Johnnys manages to reverse the position and he's now in Laine's guard.
Johnnys wants to control from the top but Laine keeps moving. Johnnys has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Laine tries to strike from the bottom.
Johnnys knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Laine on the ground.

Laine won't let Johnnys get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Laine lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee warns Johnnys that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Laine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Laine is tying to control. That's one minute gone in the round. Laine looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Johnnys with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Laine lands a nice short elbow. Laine working Johnnys over with strikes. Johnnys is refusing to be controlled, as Laine sits in half guard. Laine sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Johnnys defending well though. Laine takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Johnnys wants to control but Laine is keeping busy and won't allow it. Laine not landing any meaningful shots this time. Laine drops an elbow to the side of Johnnys's head. Laine working the head and body with strikes. Laine working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Laine scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Johnnys avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Laine. Nice strikes from Laine there. Laine wants to work for an arm triangle but Johnnys is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Laine slips a nice elbow through Johnnys's hands, connecting with Johnnys's forehead. Laine thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Laine seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Johnnys does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Johnnys makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Johnnys. Johnnys manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Laine manages to get himself to full guard.

Laine is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Johnnys passes Laine's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Laine is concentrating on defense, preventing Johnnys from advancing position. Ilmari Laine has got the better of the ground game so far. Johnnys seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Laine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

And that's the end of the fight! Ilmari Laine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
