PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Jamison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kick Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kick Boxer!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jamison sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Jamison needs to keep his hands up - Boxer had a free shot at his head there.
Jamison shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Boxer stuffs the takedown attempt from Jamison. Jamison gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice shot by Jamison.
Jamison throws an overhand right that lands on Boxer's shoulder, as Boxer tries to avoid the shot.
Boxer thuds his right hand into Jamison's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Boxer counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Jamison. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jamison takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jamison tried to score with a low kick but Boxer checks it.
That kick from Boxer tenderised Jamison's leg. Jamison is trying to keep his angry face on.

Boxer gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Boxer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boxer misses with a few strikes there.
Jamison misses with a double jab
and Boxer counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Boxer works Jamison's body with a nice hook.
Boxer connects with an inside leg kick.
Jamison looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Boxer blocks a head kick by Jamison.
Kick Boxer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boxer thuds a left hand into Jamison's body.
Boxer lands with a cross.
Jamison misses with a kick to the body.
Jamison has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Boxer.
Jamison lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Boxer circles away quickly and effectively.

Jamison tries to keep at a distance but Boxer has taken the fight into the clinch.
Boxer's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
A short body shot lands from Boxer as the two fighters clinch.

Boxer lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Boxer lands with a left to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boxer lands a nice uppercut.
Still in the clinch, Boxer scores with a nice short uppercut.
Boxer has Jamison pressed against the cage, preventing Jamison from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Jamison trying to control the position but instead, Boxer has worked for underhooks and has pushed Jamison into the cage.

Boxer keeps control of Jamison as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Boxer lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Boxer scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Boxer lands a shoulder strike.

Boxer lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Jamison drops down looking for an ankle pick but Boxer pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jamison takes one on the button.
Boxer jabs Jamison to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jamison misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Boxer.
Jamison takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Boxer throws a nice inside leg kick.

Boxer clinches with his opponent.

Boxer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boxer lands a nice hook to Jamison's body. Jamison takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jamison takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Jamison takes one on the button.
Jamison takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jamison takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Nice shot lands for Boxer.
Boxer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Jamison moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jamison. Boxer does a little dance to reset his feet.

Jamison misses with a jab, cross combination.
Boxer fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Boxer fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jamison on the side of the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jamison throws a lazy body kick
and Boxer counters with a good low kick that Jamison was not able to check.
Jamison throws a right hand that Boxer ducks under and follows up with a left that Boxer also avoids with ease.
Boxer pushes Jamison away with a front kick.
Jamison on the wrong end of a nice jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kick Boxer dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jamison walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Jamison shoots for a double leg takedown but Boxer sprawls well. He's pushed Jamison's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Boxer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Good shot there by Boxer.
Boxer staying out of range there.
Boxer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jamison.
Ricardo Jamison is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jamison takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Boxer thumps Jamison with a low kick.
Boxer ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Boxer lands with a straight right. Jamison didn't see that one coming.
Boxer scores with a jab to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Boxer counters with a lovely straight right hand!


Jamison is rocked!
Boxer cracks Jamison with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Jamison falls to his knees and Boxer doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kick Boxer!
Kick Boxer is the new lightweight champion!
A very excited looking Kick Boxer made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
