PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Drako Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hanzo Hasashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bravo comes to the cage accompanied by Jiu Jitsu by Eddie Bravo. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drako Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hanzo Hasashi!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hasashi misses with a two punch combination.
Bravo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Hasashi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bravo fails to land the takedown.
Hasashi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've been hearing reports that Bravo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Bravo moves out of range of the strikes.

Hasashi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bravo's guard.

Bravo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

A slapping leg kick lands for Bravo.
Hasashi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bravo circles away quickly and effectively.
Bravo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hasashi.
Bravo attempts a counter takedown but Hasashi avoids it well and moves away.
Hasashi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hasashi blocks a leg kick.
Despite the aggression on Hasashi's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Hasashi loads up on a big right hand but Bravo slips the punch.

Hasashi has closed the distance and engaged Bravo in a clinch.
Bravo is trying to pull guard but Hasashi has him pressed against the cage.
Hasashi misses with a hook from the clinch.
Bravo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hasashi just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drako Bravo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hasashi lands a left hand.

Bravo is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hasashi to keep the fight standing.
Bravo tries to pull guard but Hasashi holds him up against the cage and eventually Bravo drops back down to his feet.
Bravo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hasashi just stands there and leans against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Hasashi scores with a nice short uppercut.
Bravo blocks an uppercut.

Bravo is trying to pull guard but Hasashi turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Bravo tries to pull guard but Hasashi won't allow it.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bravo jumps guard but Hasashi turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Hasashi throws a head punch that misses.
Bravo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hasashi walks away with a smile on his face. Bravo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bravo shoots and misses
and Hasashi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hasashi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bravo attempts a counter takedown but Hasashi avoids it well and moves away.
Hasashi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hanzo Hasashi dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A big right from Hasashi misses.
Hasashi misses with a series of wild punches.
Bravo half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Hasashi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hasashi wants it to stay on the feet.
Bravo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hasashi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Hasashi misses with a right hand

and Bravo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hasashi pulls Bravo in to control the position.
Bravo trying to control the position from guard on top but Hasashi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hasashi has control of Bravo's left arm, preventing Bravo from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hasashi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bravo manages to get himself to full guard.


Bravo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Hasashi is posturing up here but Bravo has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Hasashi tries to roll out but it's too tight and Hasashi has to tap! Slick submission there by Bravo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Drako Bravo!
A very excited looking Drako Bravo made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
In defeat, Hanzo Hasashi stepped up to the mic, saying 'Congratulations to Algernon; best fighter i've ever fought. Better get back in there and try to earn another shot at this man '.
