PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Riddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Momchil Nedkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Momchil Nedkov will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Edmund Riddle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Momchil Nedkov!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nedkov instigates a clinch.
Nedkov is trying to push Riddle away but Riddle has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Nedkov tries for a takedown but Riddle manages to get underhooks.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Riddle counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Riddle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Riddle seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

and Riddle counters with a left and a right that stings Nedkov.
Momchil Nedkov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nedkov swings away with a body shot that misses
and Riddle counters with a one-two to the body.
Nedkov shoots in and drives through. Riddle sprawls well.
Nedkov dives in and grabs Riddle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Riddle pushes down on Nedkov's head and hops out.
Riddle tries to counter by clinching up but Nedkov breaks away and moves out of range.

Riddle has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Riddle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nedkov throws a sloppy head kick and Riddle moves out of range easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Edmund Riddle will probably get the nod.

Nedkov throws a right hand that Riddle ducks under and follows up with a left that Riddle also avoids with ease.

Let's hope that Nedkov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Riddle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Riddle stays in close to Nedkov's body and controls the position.
Riddle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nedkov tries a head kick but it misses.
Riddle lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Nedkov throws the kick towards the body but Riddle avoids it.
Riddle seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Riddle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nedkov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nedkov changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Nedkov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Riddle uses from the top position.

Riddle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nedkov was covering up waiting for the punch and Riddle finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Nedkov is trying to hold Riddle in close to prevent damage but Riddle has managed to pass into half guard.

Riddle thows a huge punch but Nedkov dodges it nicely.

You can see the frustration on Nedkov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Riddle slows the pace down.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Riddle tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nedkov defends well and Riddle ends up having to push Nedkov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Nedkov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Riddle swivels and escapes.
Riddle thinks about countering with a head kick.

Edmund Riddle showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Riddle has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
