Gatherer's entrance music is Down In A Hole - Alice In Chains. A fine choice. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salgado gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gatherer throws the kick towards the body but Salgado avoids it.

Salgado tries to clinch up but Gatherer circles away and keeps his distance.
A quick step to the side and Gatherer tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Salgado takes a kick to the side of the head.
Gatherer leaves Salgado with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hunter Gatherer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Francisco Salgado.
Gatherer closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A slapping leg kick lands for Gatherer.

Salgado instigates a clinch.
Come on Gatherer - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Gatherer pushes off an throws an elbow but Salgado leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Salgado can't break the clinch.

Salgado ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Salgado no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gatherer wants to control from the top but Salgado keeps moving.
Gatherer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Gatherer's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Gatherer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Salgado looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gatherer has picked Salgado up and slammed him! Salgado can't keep hold of the triangle and Gatherer manages to pass to side control!
Salgado is looking to reverse the position.

Gatherer decides to stand back up.
We've been informed that Salgado has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Gatherer lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gatherer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Salgado paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Salgado fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gatherer is out of range.

Salgado shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gatherer as he jumps to the side.

Salgado closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Salgado is trying to pull guard but Gatherer has him pressed against the cage.
Salgado takes an elbow to the temple.
Gatherer lands a body punch.
Gatherer throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Salgado looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Salgado lands with a short shot to the head.
Gatherer has Salgado pressed against the cage, preventing Salgado from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Salgado wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gatherer has him pressed against the cage.
Gatherer blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Salgado manages to break the clinch.
Salgado throws a poor cross that misses

and Gatherer counters with a crisp one two that drops Salgado! Gatherer thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Salgado to his feet! Salgado is in big trouble!

Salgado is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Gatherer engages and cracks Salgado with a massive lead left hook - Salgado tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Gatherer is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

After winning the bout, Hunter Gatherer thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
