The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chantry has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Velasquez.
Chantry misses with an uppercut
and Velasquez counters with a two punch combo.
Chantry throws a lazy uppercut
and Velasquez counters with a nice right hand that sends Chantry toppling to the canvas! Chantry scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Velasquez finish him?!
Chantry is rocked!
It looks like Borden Chantry has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Velasquez throws a sloppy head kick and Chantry moves out of range easily.
Chantry has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Velasquez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Chantry.
Some bone on bone action there as Velasquez checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A slow jab from Chantry misses its intended target.
Chantry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Velasquez.

and Velasquez counters with an inside leg kick.
Nice body kick there by Velasquez.

Velasquez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Velasquez connects with a solid leg kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Chantry misses the target.
Velasquez lands a brutal head kick. Chantry looks out on his feet and Velasquez throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
