Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roman Francis! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jan Urzu! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Urzu misses with a straight left. Francis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Urzu defending well as Francis loads up on a big left hand. Francis scores with a nice strike.
It looks like Jan Urzu has been cut. Francis misses with a wild body shot. Urzu takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A swing and a miss from Francis. Francis misses with a hook. Urzu ducked under it nicely. Francis missing with a left hand there. Urzu was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Urzu thows a left - swing and a miss! Francis swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Urzu has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Francis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Urzu. Urzu takes a swing at Francis's ribcage but misses. Francis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Francis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Urzu clinches with his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Urzu lands a body punch in the clinch. Urzu lands a hook to the side of the head. Urzu makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Urzu effectively controlling the action here. Francis breaks from the clinch.
Urzu is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Francis. A little feinted left hand from Francis on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Francis slips a jab from Urzu. Francis misses with a hook. Urzu ducked under it nicely. Urzu steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Francis. Urzu ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Francis connects with a good right hand that stumbles Urzu. Urzu circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Urzu's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Francis connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Urzu scrambles back to his feet. Francis lands an overhand right. Urzu misses with a looping right. Francis steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Urzu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Francis misses with a lunging right hand
and Urzu counters by clinching up. Francis lands a left hand that snaps the head of Urzu backwards. Francis manages to break the clinch.
Urzu throws a shot to the body.
Francis looks to throw the jab but Urzu is out of range. Urzu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Urzu scores with a decent looking hook. Francis throws a body shot but no joy. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Francis, as that shot connected.
Urzu throws a big shot that misses. Urzu moves away from the strike by Francis. Urzu misses with a double jab.
A shot to the liver by Urzu. Beautiful body shot. Urzu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Francis moves away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Francis's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Urzu connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Francis scrambles back to his feet. Urzu gets in close and instigates a clinch. Urzu is trying to break the clinch but Francis has him pressed against the cage. Nice body punch from Urzu - that landed with a thud.
Francis is breathing heavily. Urzu stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Urzu softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. The referee calls for Urzu to work.
A head punch on the inside from Francis fails to land. Francis is trying to push Urzu away but Urzu has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Urzu misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Urzu can't find room to land a body shot as Francis controls the action.
Urzu scores with a hook to the body. Urzu scores with a nice hook to the head. Urzu lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Francis backwards.

Francis is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Francis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Oh Francis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Urzu lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Francis to his knees! Urzu keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jan Urzu! Jan Urzu is the new light heavyweight champion! Jan Urzu decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
