PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Perseen Suti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glorious Superior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Glorious Superior was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 24 - 2, fighting out of London, Perseen Suti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Glorious Superior!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suti throws a sloppy head kick and Superior moves out of range easily.
Suti feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Superior's calf.
Superior swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Suti moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Superior ducks under a wild hook from Suti.
Superior on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Suti ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Superior stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Suti rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Superior moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It seemed like Superior was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Suti fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Suti connects with a looping right hand.
Suti lands a high kick!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Superior throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Suti looks to land a left hand but Superior moved out of range nicely.
Suti throws a nice looking combination but Superior bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nice defenses there by Suti.
Suti cracks a nice hook into Superior's ribs.

Suti misses with a hook. Superior ducked under it nicely.

Suti moves away from the strike by Superior.
Suti tries for a takedown but Superior sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Suti doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Suti lands a body shot.
Superior throws out a leg kick but Suti moves out of range and Superior only half commits.
Superior chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Suti can pounce on him.

Superior has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Suti pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

and Superior counters with a takedown into side control.
Suti is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Superior is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Suti knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Superior happy to just control the position for now.
Suti looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Suti manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Suti gets full guard.
Superior tries to free his leg and advance position but Suti is retaining full guard.
Suti wants to sweep but no luck.
Superior stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suti swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Suti manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Superior manages to get himself to full guard.

Suti loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Superior not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Suti connects with a couple of short punches.
Suti throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Superior works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Suti is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Suti distracts Superior with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Superior trying to control the position.
Suti is working Superior over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Superior has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Suti can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Suti lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Suti thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Suti throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Superior works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Suti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Suti manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Superior on his heels. He'll look to pass Superior's guard now, I'm sure.
Suti is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Suti has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Superior must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Superior is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Suti is just riding it out for now. Superior eventually gives up the hold.

Superior shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Suti throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Suti shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Superior's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Suti got a little sloppy there for a moment and Superior has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Suti has managed to get both his arms back between Superior's legs - danger averted.

Superior seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Superior holds on and takes a little breather.

Glorious Superior has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Suti accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Superior wants to sweep here but Suti controlling him for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Suti shoots in for a takedown but Superior shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Superior works to advance to full mount. Suti defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Perseen Suti is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Superior is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Suti has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Suti!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Suti seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Glorious Superior comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Suti has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
