Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leandro Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Olliver Gullion! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones wants to clinch. Jones connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Gullion just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Gullion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gullion is looking for the big counter here. Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A thudding body kick lands there by Gullion!
Gullion throws a head kick that misses. Gullion misses with a head kick.
Jones instigates a clinch. Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Gullion breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gullion tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gullion to the ground. Gullion escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gullion avoids it really well and circles away. Jones goes for a double leg but Gullion avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gullion continues to drive forward. Gullion is clearly looking to counter with head kicks. Jones on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Leandro Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gullion throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jones sees it coming and avoids it easily. Gullion throws a body kick that misses. Gullion pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones tries to clinch up and Gullion counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Jones throws a lazy right hand but Gullion sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Gullion throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gullion sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jones ducks right into an uppercut from Gullion. Gullion lands a jab to the nose. Gullion blocks a head kick by Jones.
Gullion connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gullion misses with a head kick.
Jones tries to counter with a takedown but Gullion is quick to defend against it. Jones shoots in for a takedown but Gullion shows good takedown defense. Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gullion, who protects the arm well. Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gullion keeps working. Gullion is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gullion knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Gullion is trying to get back to his feet. Jones goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gullion rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Jones's guard! Nice work there by Gullion! Gullion trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gullion stands up and waves to Jones to follow him. Gullion throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it. Olliver Gullion is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Gullion sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Gullion is clearly looking to counter with head kicks. Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gullion counters with a flying knee. Nice. Good standup being displayed there by Jones as he connects with a hook. Nice defenses there by Jones. Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Olliver Gullion dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Jones tries to clinch up. Gullion tries a quick counter leg kick but Jones is wise to it. Jones lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Gullion throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it. Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Gullion! Gullion is trying to get back to his feet. Gullion really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gullion throws Jones to one side and escapes! Jones looking to score a takedown here. Gullion is defending well but Jones drives through and ends up in Gullion's guard. Gullion wriggles free and stands up. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gullion swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones. Gullion scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gullion defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones. Gullion throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off. Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gullion manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Gullion keeps the fight on the outside. Gullion steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Jones misses with a looping left. Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gullion on his heels. He'll look to pass Gullion's guard now, I'm sure. Jones drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gullion looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gullion looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gullion! Jones sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Gullion tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Jones. Gullion moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Jones.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gullion stands up and we're back to a striking position. Gullion goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Gullion throws a head kick that misses. Jones wants to clinch. Gullion goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Gullion misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones moves out of range as Gullion strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Gullion swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gullion stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet. Gullion throws a sloppy head kick and Gullion takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jones connects with a high kick. Crunch! Gullion slams his shin into Jones's torso. Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gullion's waist but Gullion gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leandro Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gullion goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gullion. Gullion misses with a body kick. Jones was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Gullion throws a low kick but it's checked well by Jones. Jones takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Gullion circles away from the clinch attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Gullion, which made it look bad.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gullion throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Gullion looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
This has been an exciting period of action! Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Jones is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gullion pushes Jones off and gets back to his feet. Gullion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gullion looks like he wants to counter punch here. Jones is looking to clinch. Gullion throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Olliver Gullion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Gullion pushes him off. Gullion bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Gullion scores with a push kick. Gullion lands a high kick!
Gullion keeps the fight on the outside. Jones looks for a takedown but Gullion sprawls well. Gullion tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Gullion. Jones tries to clinch but Gullion moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gullion as he avoids it easily. Gullion throws a big counter head kick but Jones avoids it with no problem. Gullion bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gullion paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jones moves into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Gullion's face as he tries to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gullion pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jones moves out of range of the body kick. Jones moves away from the strike by Gullion. Jones closes the distance and clinches. Gullion breaks from the clinch.
Jones will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. A head kick misses from Gullion. Jones rushes Gullion and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Gullion is trying to push Jones away but Jones has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Jones tries to stall but Gullion uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jones throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Gullions head. Gullion has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gullion's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Excellent takedown into side control there by Jones. Gullion is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jones has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones scoring with punches from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gullion is not content to let Jones control the position. Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Jones goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gullion has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jones but great work by Gullion. Jones manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Jones is trying to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gullion postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jones to stand up. No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt. Gullion throws a fast counter high kick but Jones manages to duck under it in time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leandro Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones moves to clinch but Gullion breaks away and Gullion counters with a right hand to the body. Gullion finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Jones looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Gullion throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Gullion throws a head kick that Jones semi-blocks.
Gullion throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off. Jones throws a series of punches but Gullion moves out of range. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jones crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gullion - the referee stops the clock and Jones gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gullion. Jones manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Leandro Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gullion counters with a stiff right hand. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gullion throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Gullion connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Jones closes the distance but Gullion moves to the side and Gullion counters with a big head kick but Jones shrugs it off. Gullion throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Olliver Gullion seems to be getting the better of the standup. Jones pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Gullion thinks about the counter body kick. Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Gullion circles away.
Jones takes a swing at Gullion's ribcage but misses. Jones stalks Gullion and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gullion's face. Gullion staggers backwards, shaken. Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Olliver Gullion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Gullion winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Olliver Gullion decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
