PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Scott Keene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Krause (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krause comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Heart of a Champion kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Keene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, James Krause!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krause has his takedown stuffed
and Keene counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like James Krause has been cut.

Krause pushes Keene up against the cage in a clinch.

Krause has hold of one of Keene's legs. Keene is fighting the takedown attempt but Krause gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Keene wants to get back to his feet but Krause is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Keene keeping moving, preventing Krause from controlling successfully.
Krause tries to free his leg and advance position but Keene is retaining full guard.
Keene seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krause works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Krause is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Keene on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Keene tries to get out of the position.
Krause trying to pass the guard but Keene defending well.

Krause is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Keene is just riding it out for now. Krause eventually gives up the hold.
Krause is trying to control the action in half guard but Keene is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Krause tries to pass the half guard into mount. Keene knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Krause is trying to work for a kimura but Keene is defending well.

Krause is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Krause wants to work for an arm triangle but Keene is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Keene knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Krause on the ground.

Krause tries to pass to full mount but Keene defends it.

Keene is trying to stand back up but Krause is controlling him
Krause wants to lay and pray for a moment but Keene keeps working.

Krause prevents Keene from standing back up.

Krause is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Krause is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Keene sees it coming and defends easily.
Krause is trying to control. Keene wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Krause wants to pass to mount but Keene is defending the position.

Krause is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Krause trying to advance position but Keene counters by regaining guard.
Keene keeping full guard, as Krause tries to pass.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Krause drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Krause jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Keene has his feet on Krause's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Krause misses with a takedown
and Keene counters with a stiff right hand.
Krause with a poor takedown
and Keene cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Scott Keene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Krause.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Krause is defended easily by Keene.
It looked like Keene was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Krause.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Krause will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on James Krause's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

letting Keene counter with a right hand.

Krause doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Keene counters with a huge left! Krause is in big trouble! He's backing up but Keene isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Krause from any more damage. A dominating finish by Keene!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott Keene!
A very excited looking Scott Keene made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
James Krause spoke after the fight, saying 'I guess Ferris was the better man tonight. I hope we fight again soon. That title will be mine.'.
