Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joao Araujo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oliver Taquses (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Araujo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is This time its war. On his way into the cage it seems that Joao Araujo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joao Araujo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joao Araujo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Oliver Taquses! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taquses throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Taquses jabbing away but nothing is landing. Araujo was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Araujo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Taquses. Taquses tries for a takedown but Araujo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Taquses has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Taquses on the wrong end of a nice jab. Taquses misses with a wild body shot. It looked like Araujo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Araujo looks to land a left hand but Taquses moved out of range nicely. Araujo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Taquses. Taquses fails with a takedown attempt. As Taquses looks to move away, Araujo throws a big counter combo but Taquses just gets out of the way. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Taquses has Araujo up against the cage in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Taquses forces his way into half guard. Araujo is trying to control but Taquses passes into side control!
Taquses is looking to take a break and control but Araujo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Araujo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Taquses's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Araujo wants to control but Taquses is keeping busy.
Taquses trying to pass the guard but Araujo defending well. Araujo is looking for a sweep. Taquses is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Taquses is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Araujo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Taquses on the ground. Taquses is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Araujo has managed to free his arm - good work. Araujo actively working from the bottom here. Taquses performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Araujo looking for submissions off his back. Araujo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Taquses seems to be working for a kimura but Araujo defends the submission attempt. Taquses wants to work for an arm triangle but Araujo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Taquses is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Araujo defends it well. Taquses looking to control but Araujo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Araujo is trying to reverse the position but instead Taquses has taken his back - oops! Araujo is trying to defend against the choke here but Taquses has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Taquses Tightens the hold and Araujo taps out furiously! Taquses displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Oliver Taquses! A very excited looking Oliver Taquses rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
