PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gee Style (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brynulf Age (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Style's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, 2pac - When we ride on our enemies. Age comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Get down on it kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Brynulf Age is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Brynulf Age!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Age is trying to stall.
Style gets underhooks to prevent Age's takedown attempt.
Age is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Style pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Age jumps guard.
Age is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Age looking for a sweep. Not yet Age, not yet.

Style stands and steps away. Age gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Style is trying hard to land a takedown here. Age sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Style connects with a good right hand that stumbles Age. Age circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Style wants to get back to his feet but Age drags him back down.

Age thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Style tries to bench press Age off him but Age keeps the position.
Age wants to lay and pray for a moment but Style keeps working.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Style thuds his right hand into Age's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Style will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Style shoots in looking for a takedown. Age tries to sprawl out of it but Style keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Age manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Age throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Style tries to bum rush Age with a series of wild strikes but Age uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Age leaves Style with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Style can't keep his opponent in guard - Age advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Age thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Age has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Age is looking to take a break and control but Style is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Age working over Style with some ground and pound. Style looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Style is refusing to be controlled, as Age sits in half guard.

Style tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Style stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Age.
Age throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Age shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Style counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Age is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Style.
Age slaps away a takedown attempt from Style, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Age wants to counter the offense by Style and move into the clinch position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A head kick by Age misses
and Style counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Style sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
An inside leg kick lands from Age.

Brynulf Age showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Brynulf Age seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Style shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Style has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Age is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Brynulf Age has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Age drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Age jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Age seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Style is looking to stand back up but Age counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Style.

Age is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Age is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Style doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Age.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Style is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Age's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Age's back!
I really don't envy Age right now.
Style trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Style is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Style is trying to stick to Age's back but Age is turning into Style. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Style's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Age.

I would just about give that final round to Brynulf Age.
