Caesar has chosen Warriors of the World as his entrance music. Gaius Julius Caesar struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 266.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. 28 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Gaius Julius Caesar ! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danga de danga de dang - Kothciushco scores with a four punch combination! Kothciushco has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Kothciushco tries to keep at a distance but Caesar has taken the fight into the clinch. Caesar working aggressively here.
Caesar blocks an uppercut.
Kothciushco misses with a hook from the clinch. A short right hand to the side of the head by Caesar . Both fighters working to control the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kothciushco. Kothciushco is fighting off a takedown attempt but Caesar is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kothciushco to the mat. Kothciushco regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Caesar trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Kothciushco manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Caesar wants to improve his position but instead Kothciushco has moved into half guard.
Kothciushco decides to stand up. Kothciushco connects with an inside leg kick. Kothciushco throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kothciushco throws a shot from downtown. Caesar moves away and avoids it. Caesar has taken the fight to the clinch.
Caesar has Kothciushco pushed against the cage. Caesar fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kothciushco throws a knee to the head but misses.
Kothciushco misses with a punch on the inside.
Caesar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Caesar moves into the clinch. Kothciushco lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Caesar backwards. Kothciushco throws a head punch that misses. Caesar fails to pull guard.
Caesar manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Kothciushco stopping the sweep attempt from Caesar . Kothciushco would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Kothciushco with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Caesar is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Caesar pushes Kothciushco back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Kothciushco lands on the inside with an uppercut. Kothciushco manages to break the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Kothciushco as Caesar shoots in. Kothciushco feinted there with a counter leg kick. Caesar with a lazy takedown attempt and Kothciushco counters with a series of strikes. Caesar will be more careful next time no doubt. Krzysztof Kothciushco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gaius Julius Caesar . Caesar misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kothciushco is looking to counter punch. A cross from Kothciushco lands. Caesar looks winded! Kothciushco lands a big uppercut and Caesar crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Caesar looks OK. Kothciushco waves Caesar back to his feet! Caesar moves into the clinch. Kothciushco lands a knee to the body.
Kothciushco lands with a short head shot on the inside. Kothciushco lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Caesar is rocked! Kothciushco lands a right hand that snaps the head of Caesar backwards. Caesar is still on wobbly legs! Can Kothciushco finish him?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kothciushco has a couple of punches blocked by Caesar .
Kothciushco dips a shoulder and cracks Caesar with a mighty uppercut! Caesar falls back against the cage and Kothciushco unloads with a barrage of strikes! Caesar is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Kothciushco screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Krzysztof Kothciushco! A relieved looking Krzysztof Kothciushco thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
