Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Isaac Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Curtis comes to the cage accompanied by Schubert - Ave Maria. The key to victory for Isaac Curtis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Isaac Curtis! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Roberts! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roberts with a lazy takedown attempt and Curtis counters with a stiff right hand. Roberts fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Curtis scores with a crisp jab that stopped Roberts in his tracks. Roberts closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Curtis keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Curtis jabs Roberts to the body, keeping him at a distance. Roberts with a lazy takedown attempt and Curtis counters with a right hand to the body. Isaac Curtis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Roberts. Roberts takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Roberts gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Curtis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. This has been an exciting period of action! Curtis throws out a powerful jab. It looks like Curtis has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Roberts tries for a takedown but Curtis circles away easily and Curtis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's one minute gone in the round. Curtis dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Nice jab there from Curtis. Curtis throws a shot to the body.
Curtis works over Roberts's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Jeff Roberts has been cut. Roberts takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Curtis sizes up Roberts with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Curtis drops Roberts with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Roberts looks back up at him and smiles so Curtis waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Roberts is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Roberts takes a body punch but keeps moving. Roberts is still on wobbly legs! Can Curtis finish him? Roberts shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Roberts seems to have recovered his senses. Roberts trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roberts with a flurry of punches that miss. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Curtis has his feet on Roberts's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roberts takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Roberts's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Curtis connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Roberts scrambles back to his feet. Roberts gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Curtis counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Curtis lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Curtis clinches up against the cage. Curtis scores with a shot to the side of Roberts's head. Roberts can't get the takedown.
Curtis lands a left hand.
A nice left hand lands by Curtis.
Roberts jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Curtis walks away with a smile on his face. Roberts gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Jab, jab by Curtis - just one landing. Curtis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Roberts, pushing him back against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roberts jumps guard but Curtis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Curtis lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Roberts backwards. Roberts's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Curtis is working Roberts over against the cage. Curtis lands a left hand.
Curtis presses Roberts against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Curtis lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Roberts. Roberts looks winded! Curtis prevents the takedown attempt.
Curtis scores with a shot to the side of Roberts's head. Curtis lands a nice shot to the body. Curtis lands a nice uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Curtis. A nice right hand lands inside from Curtis. This has been an exciting period of action! Curtis lands an uppercut. Curtis digs a right hand underneath Roberts's ribcage. Roberts let out a lung full of air as it connected. Curtis throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Curtis lands a nice uppercut. Curtis presses Roberts against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Curtis lands with a right to the head.
That has opened up Jeff Roberts's cut even more.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Curtis gets through Roberts's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Curtis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Curtis creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Curtis lands a shot to the body. Curtis is working Roberts over against the cage. Curtis lands a left hand.
Curtis lands a right hand that snaps the head of Roberts backwards. Curtis softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Curtis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Curtis lands an uppercut, right on the button! Roberts tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Isaac Curtis! Isaac Curtis retains his lightweight title! Post fight, Isaac Curtis stared into the camera and said 'Finally, a victory. I was very close to hanging up m gloves permanently. '.
