Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, William Arrol! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Cedric Murphy! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arrol swings away with a leg kick that misses. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Murphy! But no joy. Arrol scores with the left hand. Murphy knows he should have avoided that one.
It looks like Cedric Murphy has been cut. Murphy connects with a crisp jab. Murphy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Arrol manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Murphy swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Arrol. Arrol takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Murphy pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Arrol cracks Murphy with a good jab. A jab from Arrol misses. Arrol takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Murphy looks to throw a body kick and Arrol counters with a stiff right hand. Arrol scores with a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Murphy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Arrol. Arrol throws a shot from downtown. Murphy moves away and avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy lands a really nice looking cross but Arrol seems unphased.
Murphy's jab looks to have found its range, popping Arrol under the eye. Murphy checks a low kick from Arrol. Murphy on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Arrol throws a head kick that Murphy semi-blocks.
Murphy works Arrol's body with a nice hook. William Arrol seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Murphy tests Arrol's chin there with a solid looking shot. Murphy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Arrol. Arrol lands a glancing blow to the side of Murphy's head.
That has opened up Cedric Murphy's cut even more. Murphy walks into a stiff left hand from Arrol.
Murphy is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Murphy takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Murphy is still on wobbly legs! Can Arrol finish him? Arrol uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Murphy.
Murphy darts in trying to clinch and Arrol rattles Murphy with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Murphy tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Arrol dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Murphy stiff and motionless on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). William Arrol! William Arrol gave a mention to Lion Fightwear in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales). Cedric Murphy spoke after the fight, saying 'fuck off... i am the best. next time i will kick his head off..'.
