Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johann Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor McGuinness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kessler comes to the cage accompanied by Coal Chamber - Burgundy. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johann Kessler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor McGuinness!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kessler gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McGuinness cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice defenses there by Kessler.
Kessler fails in his attempt to clinch.
McGuinness let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
A big left from McGuinness misses.
Kessler connects with a leg kick. McGuinness looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
McGuinness connects with a right hand. Kessler shakes it off.
McGuinness throws a body punch but Kessler moves out of range.
Kessler looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Kessler moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuinness on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Kessler uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McGuinness.
McGuinness throws a shot from downtown. Kessler moves away and avoids it.
Kessler tries to counter by moving into the clinch but McGuinness manages to circle out of the way.

McGuinness throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kessler sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Kessler tries a low kick but McGuinness avoids it.
McGuinness looks like he wants to counter punch here.
McGuinness swings for the body but Kessler moves out of range.
McGuinness uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kessler.

Kessler wants to clinch but McGuinness slips to the side
and McGuinness counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McGuinness ducks under a wild hook from Kessler.
Kessler throws the kick towards the body but McGuinness avoids it.
Kessler looks to land a right hand but McGuinness moved out of range.

Kessler pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
McGuinness throws a hook but Kessler blocks it.
Kessler tries to counter by moving into the clinch but McGuinness manages to circle out of the way.

McGuinness with a jab.
Kessler moves in looking to clinch but McGuinness pushes him off.
McGuinness lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
McGuinness misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kessler avoids a punch combination nicely.
McGuinness bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kessler throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Kessler tests McGuinness's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Connor McGuinness has been cut.
Kessler misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Kessler is looking to control McGuinness's arms but McGuinness gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kessler has his back to the cage.

McGuinness manages to break the clinch.
McGuinness misses with a two punch combination.
McGuinness lands a right hook to the body.
Kessler tries to clinch up.
McGuinness swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A big right from McGuinness misses.
McGuinness misses with a hook. Kessler ducked under it nicely.
Kessler seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Connor McGuinness will probably get the nod.

McGuinness throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kessler scores with a head kick. McGuinness tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Kessler connects with a leg kick. McGuinness looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Kessler jabbing away but nothing is landing.
McGuinness doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kessler tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and McGuinness avoids it.
Kessler tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Kessler tries a knee to the head but McGuinness blocks it.
A frustrated look appears on McGuinness's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Kessler is looking to control McGuinness's arms but McGuinness gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kessler has his back to the cage.
McGuinness wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
McGuinness blocks an uppercut.
Kessler misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from McGuinness.
Kessler connects with a knee to the head.
Kessler tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and McGuinness avoids it.

McGuinness gets control of Kessler's arms and successfully pulls guard. McGuinness will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
McGuinness not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGuinness tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kessler's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kessler missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kessler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

McGuinness is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kessler is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but McGuinness has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Kessler is looking to defend but McGuinness has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kessler! McGuinness pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kessler taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Connor McGuinness!
After the fight, Connor McGuinness was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
