Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefan Sturm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stefan Sturm has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stefan Sturm!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sturm shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Green as he avoids it easily.
Green misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sturm throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Sturm feints and as Green raises his hands in defense, Sturm changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sturm not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Green is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sturm is controlling him.
Green knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sturm on the ground.

Green manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Sturm moves out of range of the strikes.
Green throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sturm.
Sturm wants to clinch up but Green keeps it at a distance.
Sturm avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Sturm blocks a jab.
Green misses with a series of wild punches.

Green looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sturm keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Green.
Sturm steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Green.

Sturm instigates a clinch.
Sturm drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sturm is trying to drag Green to the mat but Green just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Danny Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stefan Sturm.

Green manages to break the clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Sturm clinches with his opponent.

Green manages to break the clinch.
Green misses with a hook. Sturm ducked under it nicely.
Green is breathing heavily.
Green jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Sturm shoots in but no luck this time.
Green throws a nice looking combination but Sturm bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Sturm closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sturm takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Sturm's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
I looks like Sturm might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Stefan Sturm just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Green just misses with a punch to the body.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Sturm rushes Green and presses him up against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Green as Sturm tries to tie him up.
Sturm throws a punch but it's blocked by Green.
Sturm is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Green gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Green wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sturm fails to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


A slow jab from Green misses its intended target.
Green throws a hook to the side of Sturm's head but Sturm sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sturm defending well as Green loads up on a big left hand.
Sturm lands with a nice body punch.
Green just misses with a punch to the body.
Sturm looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sturm uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Green.
Green throws the left hand but Sturm avoids the punch easily.
Green thows a body shot but no joy.
Green swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Sturm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sturm tries to close the distance and clinch up but Green swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sturm looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sturm moves out of range as Green strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sturm controlling the action here for a moment.
Green can't break the clinch.
Sturm can't get the takedown.
Green gets underhooks to prevent Sturm's takedown attempt.

Sturm is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Green prevents a body shot from Sturm.

Sturm gets control of Green's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sturm will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sturm bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Green's guard.

Sturm wants to control from the top but Green keeps moving.
Sturm is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sturm forces Green back against the cage and clinches.
Sturm drops down looking for an ankle pick but Green pulls his leg out and moves away.

Sturm feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sturm content to stall in guard here.

Stefan Sturm showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Green. No joy for Sturm on that attempt.

Green is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sturm.
Green throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sturm sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Green will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Green is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Sturm has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Danny Green has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Green has given up his back. Will we see Sturm going for some submissions?
