PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Tyler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Tunstall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyler comes to the cage accompanied by Anthem for the Underdog. Jake Tyler could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ian Tunstall's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Tyler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ian Tunstall!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tunstall swats away the attempt to clinch by Tyler.
Tyler takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Tyler tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tunstall swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Tunstall jabs at Tyler's body.

Tunstall gets the takedown into side control.

Tunstall tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tunstall has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tunstall lands a nice forearm strike.
Tyler tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

I looks like Tunstall might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tunstall has control of Tyler's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Tyler regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Tyler can't escape the position.
Tunstall scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Tyler is trying desperately to improve position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tyler wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Tunstall dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tunstall will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Tyler has his foot on Tunstall's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tunstall works his way back into a safe position though.

Tunstall decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tyler is looking for a sweep. Tunstall is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Tyler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tyler shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tyler was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Tyler moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Tunstall has worked his arm free - good work by Tunstall!
Tunstall is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Tyler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tunstall keeps working.
Tunstall wants to get back to full guard.
Tyler wants to control but Tunstall is keeping him busy.
Tyler looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Tunstall slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Tyler is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

so Tunstall counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Tyler. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tunstall postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Tyler looks a forlorn figure.

Ian Tunstall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Tyler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Tyler is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tunstall is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Tunstall. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Tyler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tunstall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tunstall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tyler throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Tunstall escapes and throws Tyler's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Tunstall has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tyler lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Tunstall backwards.

Tyler presses Tunstall against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Ian Tunstall is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Tyler using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Tunstall has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ian Tunstall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tunstall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
