PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Moss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kunta Kinte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Charlie Moss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kunta Kinte!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kinte avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kinte throws a counter combo.
Kinte throws a low kick but it's checked well by Moss.
Moss really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kinte closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Moss quickly recovers to half guard.
Still in half guard, Kinte seems content to control.
Moss is refusing to be controlled, as Kinte sits in half guard.
It looks like Kinte is going to stand back up.
Moss is not content to let Kinte control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kinte is looking for a kimura but Moss is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kinte to get the leverage.

Moss tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Moss avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kinte.
Kinte passes into side control, despite Moss's attempt to control the position.
Moss tries to bench press Kinte off him but Kinte keeps the position.

Kinte is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Moss has escaped the position, nice work there.
Moss is trying to get back to his feet.
Moss is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Kinte wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Moss, who protects the arm well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Moss is looking to regain half guard here but Kinte keeps moving and retains side control.
Moss is trying to control Kinte's posture but Kinte avoids it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Moss with a poor takedown
and Kinte counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Kinte drives through with a takedown into Moss's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kinte trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kinte trying to control the position from guard on top but Moss is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kinte really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moss looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kinte is one step ahead there.
Kinte must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kinte controls from within his opponent's guard.
Moss keeping moving, preventing Kinte from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kinte stands up from Moss's guard - Kinte perhaps looking for a knockout.

Kinte closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Moss tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kinte presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Kinte with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kinte looking for a guillotine from mount but Moss is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kunta Kinte dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A low kick from Kinte misses

and Moss holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Moss breaks from the clinch.

Moss shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kinte won't allow Moss to pass to mount.
Moss is trying to control. Kinte wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kinte looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Moss seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kinte has hold of Moss's hands but Moss slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Moss is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kinte defends it well.
Moss is controlling the pace.

Kinte tries to get to full guard but Moss has control of the leg.
Moss looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kinte slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kinte not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kinte looking for a sweep. Not yet Kinte, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Moss working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kinte's head.
Moss postures up and lands a big shot to Kinte's brow.
Moss working some strikes from top position.
Moss passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Moss cracks Kinte with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Moss landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Kunta Kinte has got the better of the ground game so far.
Moss is looking to take a break and control but Kinte is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Moss is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kinte knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kinte struggling a bit here.

Moss wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kinte, who protects the arm well.
Check out the look on Moss's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Moss is chipping away with strikes.
Kinte is not content to let Moss control the position.
Kinte parries the strikes from Moss easily there. Moss is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kinte to escape.
Moss lands a nice forearm strike.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kinte is looking for a sweep.
Moss connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kinte some visible discomfort.
Moss postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Moss dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Kinte shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Moss's guard.
Kinte pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moss is keeping the position for now.
Moss looking for a sweep. Not yet Moss, not yet.
Moss keeping moving, preventing Kinte from controlling successfully.
Moss wants to stand but Kinte is controlling the position.

Moss has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kinte content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Moss has locked up a guillotine! Moss's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kinte is holding on here and Moss must be using up a lot of energy. Kinte has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Moss gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Charlie Moss!
