Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fengi Saman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rich Johnson! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saman fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Saman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Saman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Saman working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Johnson working to try and regain half guard.
Saman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape. Saman is really struggling to control Johnson but he's trying to hold on to the position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Saman controlling from mount. Johnson working to try and regain half guard.

Johnson looks gassed! Saman controlling the position easily from mount. Johnson tries to reverse the position but Saman maintains control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Saman controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Saman prevents Johnson from getting the reversal. Saman with good strikes from the mount here! Saman goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Johnson turns into him and now he's in Saman's guard.
Johnson is looking to work some ground and pound but Saman has wrist control. Saman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Saman has control of Johnson's left arm, preventing Johnson from doing any damage. Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saman is trying to keep Johnson in close.
Johnson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Saman goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Rich Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Saman has a takedown stuffed. Saman closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Saman pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fengi Saman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Saman's guard. Johnson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Saman kicks Johnson off and gets to his feet. Saman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Johnson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Johnson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Saman in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Johnson is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
