Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andre Perez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Reid! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Reid is trying to defend but Perez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Reid keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Reid is trying to get back to full guard. Reid gets full guard. Reid preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Perez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perez lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Reid is trying to control the position but Perez postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reid is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Perez trying to control but Reid is working from the bottom. Perez throws a big right hand that misses. Perez won't allow Reid to sweep him here. Perez throws a strike but Reid rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Reid trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Perez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reid trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Reid wants to get up but he can't break Perez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reid accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Reid stays in close to Perez's body and controls the position. Perez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Reid tries a head kick but it misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Reid. Perez gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perez decides to pull guard. Reid sitting in guard here, content to control. Perez manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Perez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reid paws at him with a jab and circles away. A countering left hand to the body from Reid misses. Joe Reid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Perez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Perez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Reid has one foot on Perez's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Reid rushes Perez and presses him up against the cage. Come on Reid - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Reid has picked Perez up - he's going for a ride! Reid dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Reid wants to pass to mount but Perez is defending the position. Perez is trying to stand back up but Reid is controlling him

A close round but Joe Reid will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Reid stuffs the takedown attempt from Perez. Perez gets slowly back to his feet. Reid moves into the clinch. Perez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Reid throws a knee to the head but misses.
Perez drags the fight down to the ground.
Reid wants to control from the top but Perez keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reid engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reid pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Perez is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reid decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Perez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Reid closes the distance and clinches. Perez manages to pull guard.
Reid is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Reid keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Perez's head. Reid with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reid gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Reid gets a clinch. Perez is trying to pull guard but Reid has him pressed against the cage. Reid gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Reid not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Reid throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Reid is trying to control. Perez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Reid. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Reid moves nicely into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Reid is trying to get an arm triangle but Perez is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reid advances nicely into full mount. Perez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Reid landing shots from mount. Reid takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Reid with good strikes from the mount here!
It looks like Andre Perez has been cut. Joe Reid has got the better of the ground game so far. Reid is stalling here but it's allowed Perez to get half guard.
Reid has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reid is keen to just control but Perez is a slippery customer. Reid throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Perez is staying active underneath Reid, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Perez wants to improve his position but Reid is controlling well.
Reid lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Reid controlling the pace. Perez trying to control here.

Joe Reid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Andre Perez's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Reid shoots in and drives through. Perez sprawls well. Reid drives through with a takedown into guard. Reid scoring with some ground and pound.
Perez is rocked! Reid postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Perez covers up, he's hurt! Reid keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Reid and the ref steps in to end the fight! Reid can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
