Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mahti Mahti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Chris Gunn! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gunn keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mahti. Chris Gunn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gunn throws the left hand but Mahti avoids the punch easily. The fight moves into the clinch position. We've been hearing reports that Mahti has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. A head punch on the inside from Mahti fails to land. Mahti letting Gunn take a breather here. Gunn pressing his opponent against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gunn leaning his opponent against the cage. Gunn continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up. Mahti misses with a punch on the inside.
Mahti works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mahti can't find room to land a body shot as Gunn controls the action.
Mahti has a couple of punches blocked by Gunn.

Gunn is trying to trip Mahti. He has hold of a leg but Mahti is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gunn persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Gunn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gunn scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Mahti working a defensive guard here.
Mahti working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gunn. Gunn throwing strikes from guard but Mahti blocks nicely. Gunn trying to control the position from guard on top but Mahti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mahti will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mahti has momentary wrist control but Gunn slips an elbow through the middle. Gunn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mahti not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gunn connects with a couple of short punches. Gunn working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Mahti is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Gunn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gunn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. This has been an exciting period of action! Gunn scoring with punches and elbows.
Mahti is rocked! Gunn controls the position from side control. Oh Mahti is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Mahti is trying to control Gunn's posture but Gunn avoids it. Mahti seems to have got his legs back now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gunn is looking to take a break and control but Mahti is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gunn cracks Mahti with an elbow. That is naaassty. Mahti can't do much from the bottom here. Gunn tries for a kimura but Mahti is defending well. Gunn scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mahti to see if he's OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mahti is looking to reverse the position. Gunn working the ground and pound from side control. Mahti regains half guard there - taking advantage of Gunn's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Gunn scores with a big shot! Mahti's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Mahti! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Gunn! Chris Gunn seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
