Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Refugio Farmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick Reis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Refugio Farmer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rick Reis! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Reis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Farmer sneaks back into half guard. Reis throws a strike but Farmer avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Farmer trying to control the position.

Farmer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Reis missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Farmer is trying to control the position but Reis postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Farmer is really struggling to control Reis but he's trying to hold on to the position. Reis working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Farmer has momentary wrist control but Reis slips an elbow through the middle. Reis lands a couple of decent looking shots. Reis throws an elbow that misses. Farmer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Reis's guard. Nice move by Farmer!
That's one minute gone in the round. Farmer controlling from the top position. Farmer drops back looking for a leg! Reis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Reis manages to kick Farmer off! Farmer jumps back into Reis's guard. Farmer passes Reis's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Reis tries to get to full guard but Farmer has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Farmer is keen to just control but Reis is a slippery customer. Reis is controlling Farmer's position as best he can from this difficult position. Farmer is working for a kimura but Reis is defending it quite comfortably.
Farmer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Reis is not content to let Farmer control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reis is holding on to half guard well. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Farmer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reis can do anything to dispel that myth. Farmer is working for a submission of some sort.
Farmer is breathing heavily. Farmer trying to pass the guard but Reis defending well.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Reis drives through with a takedown into Farmer's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reis scoring with some ground and pound. Farmer has control of Reis's left arm, preventing Reis from doing any damage. Farmer controls Reis momentarily but Reis frees himself. Reis lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Farmer is rocked! Reis is in close to Farmer's body, working some short punches and elbows. Oh Farmer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Reis loads up on a big left hand. Farmer felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Reis looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Farmer can't hide his disappointment, as Reis celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick Reis!
