Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Jamal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ho Ho Lam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kirk Jamal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ho Ho Lam!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jamal tries for a takedown but Lam sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lam is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Lam closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lam lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lam is looking to stand up but Jamal won't let him.

Jamal has his foot on Lam's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lam works his way back into a safe position though.

Lam got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jamal has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lam has managed to get both his arms back between Jamal's legs - danger averted.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jamal is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lam can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lam tries to escape but Jamal is in control.
Jamal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lam is pushing Jamal's head away, looking to escape. Jamal manages to hold on to the position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Lam bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jamal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lam is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Lam really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jamal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ho Ho Lam will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lam stuffs the takedown attempt from Jamal. Jamal gets slowly back to his feet.

Jamal fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lam to the ground. Jamal is now in Lam's guard.
Jamal won't allow Lam to get back to his feet.
Jamal wants to pass the guard but Lam is keeping the position.
Lam wants to stand up but Jamal is controlling him.

Lam wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Jamal has his opponent's back but Lam is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Jamal.

Lam changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jamal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Jamal is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jamal escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lam gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lam is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Lam is sitting in close to Jamal's body. Jamal has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lam is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lam is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Jamal.
