Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chad Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Velas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chad Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antonio Velas!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Richards enables Velas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Richards manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Richards wants to get back to his feet but Velas passes into half guard.

Richards is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Velas is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Richards is trying to reverse the position but instead Velas has taken his back - oops!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Velas is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Velas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Richards tries to kick Velas off in order to stand up. Velas Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Richards tries to buck Velas off but Velas is having none of it.
Richards tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Velas presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Richards is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Velas gets his hands free as Richards looks to control.

Richards is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Velas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Velas slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Richards can't escape the position.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Antonio Velas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Velas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Richards!
Richards tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Velas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Velas. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Velas controlling the position well here. Richards rolled but Velas kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Velas really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Richards.
Velas is not going to allow Richards to sit and survive in this position.

Velas is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Let's hope that Velas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well Velas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
