Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chance Birmbaum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tobious Khan! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khan closes the distance and clinches. Khan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. A head punch blocked on the inside by Khan. Birmbaum can't find room to land a body shot as Khan controls the action.
Birmbaum's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Khan misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Birmbaum.
Khan forces Birmbaum back against the cage and clinches. A head punch on the inside from Khan fails to land. Birmbaum presses Khan against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Khan lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Birmbaum or not. Khan gets through Birmbaum's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Birmbaum misses with a punch on the inside.
A battle for position here, against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Birmbaum wants a takedown.
Birmbaum breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Birmbaum has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Malmi Aitta in the buildup to the fight. Birmbaum takes a swing at Khan's ribcage but misses. Khan has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Birmbaum works Khan's body with a nice hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Birmbaum throws a low kick but Khan moves out of range easily. Birmbaum sets himself, and Khan steps forward looking for the clinch! Birmbaum avoids it this time. Khan misses the shot to the body. Tobious Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Khan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Khan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Birmbaum counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Birmbaum fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Khan. Birmbaum throws a one two combo.

and Birmbaum counters with a straight right hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Birmbaum shoots in looking for a takedown but Khan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Birmbaum's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Birmbaum scores with a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Birmbaum. Khan lands with a nice body punch. Birmbaum changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Khan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Birmbaum advances to mount. Birmbaum in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Birmbaum wants to control the pace but Khan is squirming around nicely. Khan takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Birmbaum tries to control but Khan wriggling away. Khan tries to hold on but Birmbaum postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Birmbaum can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Khan is looking to escape. Khan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Birmbaum with good strikes from the mount here! Birmbaum controlling from mount. Khan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Birmbaum. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Birmbaum lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Birmbaum cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Birmbaum looking to control but Khan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Khan in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Birmbaum trying to control but Khan is having none of it. A nice elbow there by Birmbaum. Khan takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Birmbaum's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chance Birmbaum! Our winner, Chance Birmbaum, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
