Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Khaliev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Marfaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khaliev comes into the arena with T-Wayne - Nasty Freestyle blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Khaliev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Juan Marfaker! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khaliev blocks a jab. Marfaker thuds his right hand into Khaliev's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Khaliev shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Marfaker napping and manages to drive through into side control! Marfaker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Khaliev in the domination position with Marfaker hanging on. Khaliev trying to control the position but Marfaker is working away. Marfaker is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Khaliev's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Khaliev wants to take a breather but Marfaker is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Khaliev stalling away here and it's allowed Marfaker to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Khaliev content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khaliev trying to control the position from guard on top but Marfaker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marfaker is pulling down on Khaliev's head. It's preventing any offense from Khaliev, at least for the moment. Marfaker keeping moving, preventing Khaliev from controlling successfully. Khaliev seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Khaliev wants to control from the top but Marfaker keeps moving.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Khaliev tries a head kick but it misses.
Juan Marfaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Khaliev moves out of range as Marfaker strikes. A decent looking cross lands there for Marfaker. Juan Marfaker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Khaliev fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Marfaker as Khaliev shoots in. Marfaker displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Khaliev. Khaliev misses with a takedown attempt and Marfaker counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Khaliev. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck with that takedown attempt from Khaliev. Khaliev shoots in and gets a takedown into Marfaker's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Khaliev wants to pass the guard but Marfaker is keeping the position. Khaliev controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Khaliev is fighting to break Marfaker's control of his arms but Marfaker is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Khaliev sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marfaker's guard. Marfaker is holding on to half guard well. Khaliev wants to control but Marfaker is keeping him busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Khaliev is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Khaliev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Marfaker knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Khaliev prevents Marfaker from standing back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Marfaker trying to control from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Marfaker is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Marfaker throws a body punch but Khaliev moves out of range. Khaliev drops down looking for a counter takedown but Marfaker sprawls and moves away. Khaliev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Marfaker as he jumps to the side. Marfaker has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Marfaker lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Marfaker dominated that round. That's time! Khaliev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Marfaker lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Marfaker dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Khaliev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Marfaker is fending him off so far but Khaliev persists. Nope, Marfaker circles away and we're back to standing. It seemed like Marfaker was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Marfaker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Marfaker wants it to stay on the feet. Khaliev takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Marfaker lands a really nice looking cross but Khaliev seems unphased.

Marfaker throws a hook to the side of Khaliev's head but Khaliev sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Khaliev appears to be looking for a counter takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marfaker lands an overhand right. Khaliev moves into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Marfaker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marfaker throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A looping hook to the body misses from Marfaker. Khaliev does a little dance to reset his feet. Khaliev attempts a counter takedown but Marfaker avoids it well and moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marfaker looks to land a left hand but Khaliev moved out of range nicely. Marfaker just misses with a punch to the body.
Marfaker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Khaliev. That did some damage! Marfaker lands a glancing blow to the side of Khaliev's head. Khaliev shoots in and drives through. Marfaker sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Khaliev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marfaker goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Khaliev slips under a jab from Marfaker. Adam Khaliev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marfaker connects with a nice looking jab.
Marfaker throws a solid leg kick but Khaliev takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Marfaker. Marfaker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nice defenses there by Khaliev. Decent striking displayed by Marfaker there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Khaliev or perhaps it was just good defense by Marfaker, which made it look bad. Khaliev is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Marfaker's half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Khaliev is working for a kimura here but Marfaker manages to reverse the position and he's now in Khaliev's guard.
Marfaker has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Khaliev throws his legs up looking for a submission but Marfaker uses it to pass to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Khaliev tries to get back to half guard but can't. A lull in the action here. Marfaker is continuing to stall. Khaliev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Khaliev manages to get back to half guard.

Khaliev tries to hold on but Marfaker pushes him away. Khaliev is desperately trying to improve his position but Marfaker has a good base and remains in mount. Khaliev sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Marfaker is taking a breather. Khaliev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Marfaker passes to full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Marfaker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Khaliev shoots and misses and Marfaker counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Marfaker misses with a straight right. Marfaker swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Khaliev. A punch lands to the side of Khaliev 's head but he takes it in his stride. Nice uppercut there from Marfaker. Khaliev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Marfaker cracks Khaliev with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Khaliev ducks under a wild hook from Marfaker. Khaliev uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Marfaker. Marfaker thows a left - swing and a miss! Khaliev changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Khaliev keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khaliev moves out of range of the strikes. Khaliev checks the leg kick nicely there.
Khaliev shoots in for a takedown but Marfaker shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Khaliev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Khaliev clinches up with Marfaker and pushes him back against the cage. Khaliev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Marfaker connects with the punch. Marfaker lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Marfaker tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Khaliev is able to avoid easily. Marfaker throws a half hearted mid kick. Marfaker fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khaliev manages to avoid it. Khaliev tries to counter with a takedown but Marfaker is quick to defend against it. Khaliev shoots for a takedown but Marfaker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Khaliev fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Khaliev shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Marfaker manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Marfaker is adopting a defensive guard. Khaliev looking to pass the guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Khaliev looking to sit in guard and control but Marfaker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Khaliev wants to sweep here but Marfaker controlling him for the moment. Marfaker passes Khaliev's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Khaliev moves into full guard.
Khaliev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Khaliev has his foot on Marfaker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marfaker works his way back into a safe position though. Khaliev is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Khaliev is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marfaker is aware though and is defending well. Marfaker is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Marfaker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Khaliev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marfaker has managed to get both his arms back between Khaliev's legs - danger averted. Marfaker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Adam Khaliev has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marfaker wants to stand but Khaliev is controlling his posture from full guard.
