Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brady Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brady Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnes clinches with his opponent.

Barnes can't find room to land a body shot as Hughes controls the action.
Hughes tries to work over Barnes's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Barnes is stalling here.
Barnes lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hughes backwards. Barnes landing knees to the head.

Barnes gets through Hughes's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. A head punch on the inside from Hughes fails to land. Barnes misses with a short punch on the inside. Barnes misses with a body punch.

Barnes works on Hughes's body with a couple of short punches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Hughes stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Barnes is trying to maintain a safe position but Hughes gets an underhook and turns Barnes into the ropes. Hughes trying to stall but Barnes improves his position.

Barnes using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hughes has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

A telegraphed right hand from Hughes misses the target. Barnes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Hughes is defending against the submission attempts here by Barnes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnes working Hughes over with strikes. Barnes tries to pass to full mount but Hughes defends it. Hughes tries to get to full guard but Barnes has control of the leg. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Barnes is trying to work for a kimura but Hughes is defending well.
Hughes gets full guard. We've been hearing that Barnes has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Hughes keeping full guard, as Barnes tries to pass. Hughes is trying to keep Barnes in close.

Brady Barnes dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Barnes gets a clinch. Hughes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Barnes lands a jab to the head.
Hughes loads up on a big right hand but Barnes slips the punch. An attempted straight right counter from Barnes misses the target. Barnes misses with a double jab.
Hughes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Hughes loads up on a big right hand but Barnes slips the punch. Hughes drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barnes sizes up Hughes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Barnes throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Barnes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Barnes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hughes can do to turn this around? Barnes takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes throws a jab when Hughes was well out of range. Barnes tries to clinch up. A big left from Hughes misses. Hughes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Barnes. Barnes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hughes was well out of range. Poor timing from Barnes. Barnes throws an overhand right that lands on Hughes's shoulder, as Hughes tries to avoid the shot. Hughes lands a lovely overhand right. Barnes lands with a nice body punch. Barnes tries to clinch but Hughes is having none of it. Barnes lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hughes! But no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnes scores with a jab to the jaw. Hughes checks a low kick from Barnes. Barnes shoots for a takedown but Hughes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. It seemed like Hughes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hughes ducks under a wild hook from Barnes. Hughes looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Hughes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Barnes. Hughes checks a low kick from Barnes. Hughes tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Barnes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hughes swats him away and circles back towards the center. Barnes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hughes pinned against the ropes. Hughes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hughes swings for the body but Barnes moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Hughes paws at him with a jab and circles away. Barnes bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hughes's head backwards. Hughes slaps away a takedown attempt from Barnes, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brady Barnes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barnes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hughes avoids it really well and circles away. Hughes tries a head kick but it misses.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hughes.

and Hughes counters with a leg kick. Hughes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Hughes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes slips under a jab from Barnes. Hughes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Barnes tries to clinch there but Hughes circles away.
Barnes throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Barnes misses with a two punch combination.
It seemed like Hughes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Hughes has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barnes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hughes. Barnes misses with a hook. Hughes ducked under it nicely. Hughes looks like he wants to counter punch here. Jab by Barnes. A jab lands there for Barnes. Barnes has his takedown stuffed enabling Hughes to counter with a crisp jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brady Barnes dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Hughes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hughes feints the counter takedown. A big left from Hughes misses. Barnes is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Hughes. Barnes takes the fight into the clinch. Hughes presses Barnes against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Barnes lands with a short head shot on the inside. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Barnes softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes. Barnes lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes. Hughes looking to slow down the pace here. Hughes misses with a hook to the ribs.

Barnes pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes. Hughes takes a knee right on the jaw!
Hughes is rocked! Barnes working the clinch nicely. Hughes is working for position but Barnes cracks him with a big knee to the head! Hughes crumples up against the ropes and Barnes lands two more shots before the ref can save Hughes! This one is all over!
