Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Chernishev!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chernishev drives through with a takedown into guard.

Conlon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chernishev defends well.

Conlon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chernishev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Chernishev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Chernishev avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chernishev distracts Conlon with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Conlon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chernishev defends it easily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Chernishev's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Conlon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chernishev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Chernishev keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Conlon's head.

Conlon working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Chernishev has passed into half guard!

Chernishev is looking to take a break and control but Conlon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Conlon wants to control but Chernishev is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Chernishev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Chernishev is thwarting Conlon's attempts to control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Chernishev lands a nice short elbow.
Chernishev seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Conlon throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Conlon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Conlon is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Chernishev frees his head nicely. Oh but Conlon has switched to an armbar! Chernishev is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
