Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gil Walton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Gunns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gil Walton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gil Walton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Gunns!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunns has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gunns stalls.

Gunns manages to break the clinch.
Gunns fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Walton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gunns was covering up waiting for the punch and Walton finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gunns avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Walton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gunns is striking from the bottom but Walton uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gunns is refusing to be controlled, as Walton sits in half guard.
Gunns is positioning himself well to prevent Walton advancing to mount.

Walton is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Walton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gunns doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Walton.
Gunns tries to roll over but Walton keeps him under control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gunns closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Walton did well to prevent Gunns getting side control.
Walton tries to kick Gunns off in order to stand up. Gunns Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Walton manages to get back to half guard.
Walton regains full guard. Nicely done.
Gunns lands a couple of elbows.
Gunns throwing strikes from guard but Walton blocks nicely.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gunns is standing up over Walton. Walton looks to escape but Gunns dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walton is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Walton wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
The referee asks Gunns politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gunns prefers to stall for the moment though.
Walton is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gunns is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gunns lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Gunns wants to control but Walton is keeping him busy.
Gunns in side control, just content to control the action for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Walton is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gunns just content to control the position.

Gunns goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Walton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gunns but great work by Walton.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gunns is looking to reverse the position.
Walton in side control, throwing shots but Gunns defends.
Gunns tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnny Gunns will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Gunns drives through and clinches with Walton against the cage.
Gunns is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Walton to keep the fight standing.
Gunns tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Walton just stands there and leans against the cage.
Walton is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gunns is defending well for now.
Walton wants to break free but Gunns has control.

Walton breaks from the clinch.
A head kick misses from Walton.

Gunns closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Walton to the mat! Walton manages to get full guard.
Gunns keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Walton's head.
Gunns trying to stand up but can't free himself from Walton's guard.

Walton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Walton wants to control from the top but Gunns keeps moving.

Walton is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gunns is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Walton distracts Gunns with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Walton with a flurry of punches that miss.
Walton would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Gil Walton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gunns avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Walton connects with a couple of short punches.
Gunns controls Walton momentarily but Walton frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Walton is working Gunns over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gunns is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Gunns closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gunns lands in his opponent's guard.
Walton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Walton is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Gunns utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Walton wants to control from the top but Gunns keeps moving.
Gunns wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Walton is now in half guard.
Walton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Gunns pushes Walton off looking to stand but Walton dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Walton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gunns has managed to free his arm - good work.

Walton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Walton decides to stand and escape the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gunns has taken the fight to the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gil Walton dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Gunns throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walton's waist but Walton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gunns off to one side.
Walton is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Gunns.
Gunns shoots in and drives through. Walton sprawls well.
Walton lands a slapping body shot.
Gunns is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gunns shoots for a takedown but Walton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gil Walton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Gunns.

Gunns jumps into guard, dragging Walton to the mat.
Gunns is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Gunns has a closed guard, preventing Walton from standing up.

Walton won't allow Gunns to sweep him here.

Gunns is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Walton defends well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Walton keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Walton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gunns but Gunns pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gunns is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Walton dives in and scores a takedown into Gunns's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gunns can do anything to dispel that myth.
Walton wants to get up but he can't break Gunns's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Walton gets to his feet. Gunns looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Walton has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gunns is trying to pull guard but Walton turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gunns jumps guard but Walton stands there with Gunns around his waist. Gunns gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Walton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Gil Walton showed his dominance in that final round.
