Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hobert Sharpe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elijah Hoo!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoo instigates a clinch.
Hoo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hoo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Sharpe throws a strike but Hoo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Sharpe manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Hoo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Hoo works on Sharpe's body with a couple of short punches.
Sharpe drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hoo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sharpe is breathing heavily.
Hoo breaks the clinch.
Hoo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hoo breaks the clinch.
Hoo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sharpe, pushing him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hoo breaks the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoo clinches up against the cage.
Hoo stops a takedown attempt from Sharpe.
Hoo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Sharpe wants to control but Hoo postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoo has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hoo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Hoo is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hoo working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Sharpe is rocked!
It looks like Hobert Sharpe has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoo lands a big shot to the head and Sharpe winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Elijah Hoo!
