Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Mewes!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mewes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kawajiri pushes Mewes off looking to stand but Mewes dives back in and keeps control.
Mewes with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Kawajiri kicks off Mewes and gets to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mewes fails with the takedown.
Mewes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kawajiri looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
No joy there for Mewes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mewes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kawajiri as he avoids it easily.
Kawajiri was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Tatsuya Kawajiri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Mewes.

Mewes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kawajiri pushes Mewes off looking to stand but Mewes dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mewes is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kawajiri is trying to stand.
Kawajiri manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mewes keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Mewes tries for a takedown but Kawajiri manages to get underhooks.
Mewes is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kawajiri gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kawajiri stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kawajiri digs a right hand into Mewes's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Mewes's gas tank.
A short body shot lands from Kawajiri as the two fighters clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kawajiri lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mewes backwards.
Mewes blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Kawajiri gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Mewes fails with a takedown attempt.
Kawajiri appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

and Kawajiri counters with a three punch combo that has Mewes backing up. Mewes nods at Kawajiri to acknowledge the strikes.

Mewes fails to land the takedown.

Mewes takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Mewes tries to clinch there but Kawajiri circles away.
Some wild striking there from Mewes.
A big left from Mewes misses.
Mewes ducks under a wild hook from Kawajiri.
Mewes shoots for a double leg takedown but Kawajiri sprawls well. He's pushed Mewes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Kawajiri counters with a nice leg kick.
Kawajiri throws a body shot but no joy.
Mewes tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kawajiri plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Mewes is rocked!
Mewes shoots in looking for a takedown. Kawajiri tries to sprawl out of it but Mewes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kawajiri manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mewes moves out of range as Kawajiri throws a body kick.
Mewes connects with a nice looking jab.
Kawajiri lands with an uppercut that bounces Mewes off the cage and back into range.
Mewes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kawajiri as he jumps to the side.

and Kawajiri counters with a lovely shot to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mewes shoots in for a takedown but Kawajiri shows good takedown defense.

Kawajiri uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Mewes is still on wobbly legs! Can Kawajiri finish him?
Kawajiri connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mewes's hands.
Kawajiri cracks Mewes on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Mewes falls backwards against the cage. Kawajiri follows up with more strikes that drop Mewes to his knees. Kawajiri keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Mewes! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tatsuya Kawajiri!
After winning the bout, Tatsuya Kawajiri thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Jason Mewes was interviewed post fight and said 'I'm young and I'll be back, better and more awesome!'.
