Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fred Drink (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Justin Kennedy is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Drink!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Kennedy !
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kennedy shoots in for a double leg but Drink sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Drink shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Drink lands a nice short elbow.
Drink looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kennedy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kennedy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Drink pulls his head out easily.

Drink looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kennedy has hold of Drink's hands but Drink slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drink fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kennedy sprawls well initially but Drink persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Drink connects with a nice short shot to Kennedy 's temple.
Drink is looking to advance position but Kennedy won't allow it.
Drink landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Kennedy wants to get back to his feet.

Fred Drink overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Drink looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Drink lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Drink lands a couple of good shots and Kennedy has given up his back, trying to escape the position!


Kennedy is rocked!
Drink connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Kennedy to escape the position.
Kennedy is still in real trouble! Can Drink finish him?

Drink has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Kennedy ! Can he survive? No! He's out! Drink gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
