Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Toby Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Spangler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Toby Powers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rob Spangler!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spangler tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Powers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Spangler won't be happy with that.
Powers working the ground and pound.
Spangler is trying to control Powers's posture but Powers avoids it.
Spangler takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Powers in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Powers definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
You can see the frustration on Spangler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Powers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Powers decides to stand back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spangler swings for the body but Powers moves out of range.
Spangler throws a sloppy head kick

and Powers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Spangler is looking to stand back up but Powers counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Spangler.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Powers content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spangler blocking the ground and pound attempt from Powers.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Powers in particular looking to stall.
Spangler is looking to control Powers's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Spangler avoid being mounted?
Powers trying to mount his opponent but Spangler defends it.

Powers is working for a kimura but Spangler is defending it quite comfortably.
Spangler trying to control but Powers postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Powers not doing much here.
Powers lands strikes from half guard.
Spangler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Powers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Powers's back!
Spangler gets his hands free as Powers looks to control.
Spangler wants to control but Powers is keeping busy.
Spangler controlling well, preventing Powers from escaping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Powers manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Nice uppercut there from Spangler.

Spangler gets tackled into the cage by Powers. Powers maintains the clinch.
Powers slows down the pace here.
Spangler wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Spangler jumps guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Powers's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Powers postures up in Spangler's guard and throws a big left but Spangler blocks it.
Powers tries to stand but Spangler is controlling from the bottom.
Powers landing with the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Powers works over Spangler with some ground and pound from guard.
Spangler is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Powers tries to free his leg and advance position but Spangler is retaining full guard.

Powers gets to his feet - Spangler follows without any prompting.
Powers misses with an uppercut. Spangler saw that one coming.
Rob Spangler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Powers swats away the attempt to clinch by Spangler.
Powers seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Powers takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Spangler takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Spangler throws an overhand right that drops Powers like a sack of potatoes! Spangler dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rob Spangler!
