Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Faup! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Johnson! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Faup tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Faup somewhat. Faup tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Faup ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Faup drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Johnson wants to sweep but no luck. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Faup from controlling successfully. Johnson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Faup will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Faup is in close to Johnson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Our spies down at at The Iron Palace inform us that Johnson has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Faup got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Faup has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson wants to sweep here but Faup controlling him for the moment. Faup stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Faup. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Faup slips nicely into half guard. Johnson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Faup. Faup is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Faup takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Faup is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Johnson won't allow Faup to pass to mount. Johnson taking some punishment here, with Faup in his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Faup moves into full mount! Johnson won't be happy about that! Faup lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Johnson taking shots to the head. Johnson is wriggling around trying to escape.

It looks like Jake Johnson has been cut. Faup has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Faup landing strikes, looking to finish! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Faup lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Faup is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Johnson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
That has opened up Jake Johnson's cut even more. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson tries to lock up and control but Faup gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Faup can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape. Faup with shots to the head and body - Johnson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Jake Johnson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jake Johnson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Peter Faup!
